 2018 Preview

Edgewood Academy finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 1-9 record.

The Wildcats would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-20 record. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Edgewood Academy has gone a combined 80-22. Their 78.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Edgewood Academy has managed to compile a record of 176-103. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA and 8th in the AISA.

The Wildcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Darryl Free as they enter the 2018 season.

The Edgewood Academy Wildcats will play in Class AA region one during the 2018 season. The Wildcats may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class AAA to AA. They will compete in region one this year.

The Wildcats enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

This season, the Wildcats will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one.

The Wildcats open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Morgan Academy on Friday, August 24 at Edgewood Stadium. Last year the Morgan Academy Senators finished with an overall record of 6-6 and in second place in Class AAA region two. The Senators lost in the semi-finals round of the Class AAA playoffs to Monroe Academy by a score of 34-7.

Edgewood Academy and Morgan Academy have met a total of 15 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 10-5-0 record against the Senators. They last met in 2017 with
